Eco Dye Tote Bag Workshop
Eco Dyed Tote Bag Workshop. 20th July 2025
A one day workshop teaching eco printing with foraged dyes. Participants will forage the dyes on the land and learn about the potential of various natural dye plants before learning the process of eco printing. The workshop will take place in a cabin on the land the dyes are foraged from, in a beautiful rural setting near Shepton Mallet in Somerset.
Participants will learn:
• How to identify and forage natural dye plants
•
How to prepare fibres and fabrics to dye
• Basic principles of natural dying and mordants
•
Iron modifier mordanting
• Dying with Birch, Onion skins and Eucalyptus and another plants (depending on the season)
•
Recording natural dying
Each participant will take home:
• An eco dyed tote bag
• A natural dye library and instruction cards
• Samples of dyed silk for embroidery or mending
There will be a maximum of six participants on each workshop, allowing for plenty of one to one tuition in an inclusive and relaxed atmosphere. Please note this workshop requires a minimum of four people attending. 10am-4pm refreshments will be provided, please bring your own lunch.
